This vintage 1970s era Flight Deck Jersey is a great, heavily-stenciled, example that illustrates both utilitarian and tactile qualities. This particular one features large stenciling on the front and the back that covers the full area of the shirt. The name tape has been crossed out per military regulations, assumably by the soldier.
VAQ-135 or the "Black Ravens" are an Electronic Attack Squadron that operates carrier-based electronic warfare jet aircraft. A green deck jersey indicates this soldier was one of the following: Catapult and arresting gear crews, Air wing maintenance personnel, Cargo-handling personnel, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) troubleshooters, Hook runners, Photographer’s Mates or Helicopter landing signal enlisted personnel (LSE).
